It was made in Fukuoka Prefecture by Muneshige Chikushu whose real name is Shigeaki Furushiro (born 1942). It won a first prize Gold Medal, at the Japanese Sword Culture Promotion Association's "10th New Japanese Sword Polishing and Exterior Sword Craftsmanship Exhibition".
