DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) was first isolated from rabbit cerebral venous blood in 1974 and has accumulated a small but published clinical-trial base most notably a 1992 Schneider-Helmert study showing improved sleep with DSIP infusion in chronic insomniacs over 7 successive nights and earlier studies showing improved sleep duration in middle-aged chronic insomniacs
