This is entirely intentional, as the craftsmen had the artistically woven web of a spider (Ankabut) in mind when designing it. Alternatively, the design is reminiscent of fireworks unfolding magnificently in the sky. Thediamond shaped border is typical of Oriental mosaic art: this religious symbol is believed to have a protective function.
