While it's a fine card and scales throughout the game, there are a ton of graveyard-centric / reanimation decks in Commander, and it seems unlikely that Gyrus, Waker of Corpses will beat out most of the pre-existing options outside of something like Jund Hydra tribal (and then, it's not even that good with many Hydras since they are X-creatures, which won't work with the reanimation ability)
The real trick to this card was that it forced whoever owned it to have a hand size limit of three cards
Since it costs four Fire Energy to use, it can set you back a fair amount during a match
Combine that shadiness with being double or even triple every other card shop in the area tells you all you need to know
On the next turn, you might grab Mana Vault or Mystic Remora if you also have Blue in your commander's identity
However, in some cases, a card printed during the earliest days of the critically acclaimed franchise can also fetch a ridiculous amount of price tag, like those from the Base Set
