Bident of Thassas main effect suits decks with evasive creatures and/or lots of cheap creatures that you don't mind sending forth as lemmings, but its activated ability can also pave the way for bigger threats

While its certainly possible to upgrade it with some different spells and a shifted focus, its not bad by any means
