) So when I spotted this fantastic model of it

and it reminds me to a fair extent of the work of Nils Thorsson

and a split in the wood on the front back foot

which in many ways feels quite contemporary

Lovely Antique Gilded Double Ball in Cage Whimsy brass dog Wonderfully irregular all the wayI've gotten pickier about whimsies over time, tending to pass them by unless they are especially lovely, which this one is, in its very old gold paint, with well carved pair of balls making me think of two little peas in a pod. Beautifully detailing at top and bottom which give it an architectural feel, too. It will stand on its own flipped either way. 4 7 8 x 1 1 8 x 1 1 8 and in very good condition, no splits or repairs.
