I almost wonder if it was meant to be 1843 and the numbers were reverse

The slide top opens and closes with easy but is not a tight fit

with this terrific purple stain on half of the blocks that makes it feel extra special and festive

The lattice pattern was hand painted, the shelf just the right depth, and the whole thing quite sturdy, with two hooks on the back for hanging on the wall. 16 3 4" w x 14 7 8" t x 3 7 8" d. A few scuffs and small dings and little wear and paint loss along the edges but overall good,
