and a little bleeding to the red paint on one wing--all adding up to a great patina

which was based in Salem

I know that it was found in Pennsylvania

Case measures 3 3/8" in diameter x 7/8" deep

and I'd guess they are meant to represent the twins of Gemini

Very Old Hand-Carved Arm with Stigmata octopus and a little bleeding toI have to think this was once attached to a very old carved Christ figure, due to the stigmata piercing the palm of the hand. It feels pretty ancient, and beautiful I think for quite the patina it has acquired, including a little loss to a couple of the fingers. Quite an evocative thing. 10 inches long x 2 3 8" wide x 1 1 4" d. Much aged over at least a couple hundred years I'd think, all to the good, and not fragile.
